About Bravo Zulu House

Many military veterans face a complex battleground after service, struggling with mental health challenges like PTSD and suicidal ideation. Alarmingly, VA data suggests a potential link, with 75-95% of veterans with PTSD exhibiting substance abuse issues. This highlights the critical need for specialized support programs.

Here in Minnesota, a significant gap exists in resources specifically designed for veterans seeking sobriety. While sober houses exist, there's a stark lack of facilities exclusively tailored to the unique experiences and needs of veterans in recovery.

Thus, Bravo Zulu House was born: a pioneering sober living environment specifically for military veterans with PTSD and addiction. Our mission aims to establish a tranquil rural sanctuary for veterans striving to overcome addiction, offering more than just shelter.

Managed by Trinity Sober Homes, the nation's premier provider of sober housing since 2011, Bravo Zulu House benefits from a legacy of success. Founded by Colonel Father Martin Fleming, an Army Chaplain who reported to General Colin Powell, TSH boasts a remarkable record: 71% of residents maintain sobriety a year post-treatment, nearly 50% higher than other programs.

Bravo Zulu Needs Your Help

What sets Bravo Zulu House apart is its comprehensive approach to recovery. This veterans-only facility provides a nurturing, home-like setting where residents gain strength through brotherhood. It integrates formal therapies and counseling with animal therapy, and hydroponic gardening, addressing the deep-seated wounds of war.

We're currently fundraising to build the infrastructure to support the support services that will embody this vision. By supporting Bravo Zulu House, you're not just contributing to a building; you're helping forge a lifeline for veterans to rediscover strength and stability. Join us in creating a refuge that honors their service with the profound care they deserve.

Funding Needed to Build Bravo Zulu House and Restore Our Veterans

We're on a mission to raise $250,000 to transform our farm into a supportive haven for veterans. Here's what the funds will be used for:

  • Dog kennels for our Canine Therapy Program, pairing shelter pets-in-need with veterans.

  • Establishing a hydroponic farming operation to provide year-round therapeutic activity and promote sustainable living.

Your support will help us create a place that not only houses but truly rehabilitates and empowers our veterans.

Founder - Colonel Father Martin Fleming (1926-2018)

Colonel Father Martin Fleming wasn't just a military chaplain; he was a beacon of hope for countless soldiers. After serving 32 years around the globe, he regularly noted that despite a soldier’s religious upbringing, "there are no atheists in foxholes," captured the spiritual yearning that emerges in the face of war.

Upon retiring in 1984, Father Fleming returned to St. Paul with a mission to serve those in need. Using his pension, he transformed an old mansion into Bethany Village, the first sober house in the city, offering a haven for 28 recovering individuals across three buildings.

Inspired by the growing need for structured recovery programs, Father Fleming partnered with Tim Murray to establish Trinity Sober Homes, a network of Catholic facilities dedicated to supporting those on their path to sobriety.

Father Fleming's legacy extends beyond his service. The core principle of "Dress Right, Feel Right," instilled in him by the Army, became an integral part of Trinity's philosophy. This emphasis on discipline and self-respect will also be a cornerstone of Bravo Zulu House, ensuring Father Fleming's unwavering commitment to helping veterans continues to flourish.
